How on earth can you expect to pass university with marks like 6/25 or 5/25 in your quizzes?
I am 1st yr in case you haven't worked out. Sorry if i sound snobby or obnoxious. I am genuinely curious.

for example when i did MATH1081, the final exam was worth 80%. a lot of people were getting 2's and 3's on the quizzes but still passed the final

There's a lot of people who failed the MATH1115 mid-semester here at ANU, although there's somewhat of a consensus that the test was just too hard this time. But then the finals are worth 50-60%, so we should be able to catch up and pass.
