Hey guys I need some help. Ive got a small network between 2 comps at home, Ive got a cable modem connected to the XP machine (USB). I have a NIC in this machine also that runs to a switch, and then the switch is connected to the NIC in the 98 machine.

Now the netowrk is setup and i can use file sharing, and it recognises the printers, but I dnt thnk it prints ( the 98 comp is probably too old, its a new printer) and the 98 machine also recognises the internet connection on the XP machine, coz i get a little box in the system tray that says internet gateway connected. But I can't access any websites, or any online services (eg MSN)

Can sum1 plz try to help me?

Do you have a firewall at all ?

Or do you have XP Service Pack Security Centre installed?

Yes Ive got PC-Cillins firewall, and the windows firewall. Ive turned off the PC-Cillin one and the IP adress of the second computer is allowed through the windows one i thnk. And I've got XP service pack 2 installed. Is there anything there that might be blocking it?

Yes both check boxes are ticked:

Allow other uses to connect thru this connection; and

Allow other users to control or disable the connection

Is that right or do I only tick the first one?

What about the authentication thing? Could that be interfering?

Also if I turn off the PC-Cillin firewall I can ping internet sites from the 98 machine, but i still cnt view any web pages.
