Hey Guys,

I have an open book assessment task on Journeys soon. We're asked to deconstruct three unseen texts, of which, one of them is a Preface to an Autobiography.

Firstly, What is the purpose of a preface to an autobiography?

Secondly, What Ideas on Jouneys are represented in a preface and what Techniques are usually used to represent those Ideas?

If you dont know much about autobiographies, could you atleast recommend any good site where I can get more info on this topic.

The first thing is to pick up a book and read a few prefaces in an autobiography and deconstruct it yourself, it will allow you practice for deconstructing any text.
The preface to an autobiography is an unusual text and its really original. I'm sure the HSC examiners will love you if you write about it in the exam.

There are TONS of techniques you can pull out from ANY text, you just have to find them. I'll post up a thread and get anti to sticky it on the different techniques used in english.
