Im failed bus1030 a suvject which wasnt compulsary, so im guessing its called an elective?

Anyway I dont want to do it again but instead I want to do another subject called marketing to make up for it
Is that possible? Or since I failed it I MUST do it again

yes its possible if it was an elective. but seriously if you learnt all that crap again, it could not possibly be that hard to just study, not turn up to lectures etc and pass it next time

It depends on the uni/subject/circumstances. Generally speaking, you do have to repeat it, unless it is an elective. However, in some cases, you can get away with doing another unit in its place. This is probably something you should discuss with your uni.

If I fail a subject but then redo it later with good marks how will this be with wam?

If I fail a subject but then redo it later with good marks how will this be with wam?

Say I discontinued failed a subject but then I re-did the subject at summer school etc..... and I did really well (say I got high distinction), will my new mark replace my old fail mark?

Also how will this look on my transcript?

No they won't replace an old mark. It'll just be as if you taken a new subject. It'll just show up in your transcript as

Semester1
Subj1234 - 43

Semester2
Subj1234 - 85

Doing it better the second semester will still help your wam by a lot.

I don't go to USYD, but generally speaking, WAM and GPA are averages of your marks. It depends on all your subjects, so even doing amazingly well in one subject can have little effect if you bomb out in your other 3 or so subjects. Your WAM or GPA might increase, stay the same, or even decrease, depending on your other subjects. However, doing better will put you in a better position than doing worse.
