I have decided instead of studying a whole module ahead since ill most likely forget it that (since i have my module 1 notes ready for bio/chem) i would study one topic at a time before every lesson

eg. My ‘offical’ first bio lesson is tomorrow so today ill revise/further study the first topic of module 1 chapter 1 which is types of cells

this is a totally new study way n i wanna know if you guys think it’s effective? Or should i just study everything at once since i alr have my module 1 notes done?

I know this won't be particularly helpful, but it really does depend on the person - there's no 'right' way to study. For me, everything all at once would be far too overwhelming, particularly as the year drags on, but you might be just fine. Study one topic for now, see how you go, and then if you feel confident go up to two topics, and so on.

I used to do this in history lol, it honestly depends on how capable you are of being able to balance it all out while making sure you don't get overwhelmed. studying is all about trial and error so that you can find a way that is most effective for you, so just see how it goes. if you do end up studying a topic ahead, i might suggest using your classes as some sort of revision and as a way of clarifying your questions.

I never learnt ahead bc I was far too lazy lol. However, I recommend supplementing your studying with topic-centric past paper questions, especially given that you're doing a science subject that assesses students on short answers. E.g. while studying economics, I focused on doing a few short answer questions related to the topic for which I had JUST taken notes. That way, you'd master most assessable content by the time prelim approaches and can begin to focus on weaker areas as you later attempt to complete entire papers.

This is mostly bc the only purpose of learning ahead is to spam out entire past papers earlier than everyone else. However, you'll still be on the same playing field as 'faster' students if you do past papers section-by-section, as you're still familiarising yourself with the type of questions that may be asked. It'll also make it easier for you to track areas of weakness, since information is being processed in an almost organised way. Hopefully that makes sense! My whole gist is that you should be strategic in how you approach your studies, as time is limited!

I did this and it worked super well, especially for retaining information. My legal teacher used to enforce this with our homework, which was always learning the next week's topic - I think there have been studies done on this method that show it's effective because in class you're solidifying what you've already learned.

This was something I did for business studies where my teacher would post topics ahead of the class and I’d read up and do the work in my own time. Although I did that to skip having to write notes in class at the time, I was subconsciously getting additional exposure to each topic learnt which helped with memory retention.

like today: i finished school at 1:30 (last period was cancelled) but spent from 1:30-3 hanging out w my friend From another school n then went my grandmas. So now i have till 9 to finish all my hw but then not enough time to study ahead ☹
a lot of ppl tell me to not neglect hanging out w friends n personal time but honestly it aint giving me much time to get ahead is there a way to balance them out?

I finish my hw throughout the week, make study notes from my hw as I go along. I finish my friday hw on saturday/friday (i have music and dance lessons), and sunday i study ahead/work on english essays.

Personal time is at school for me, and an occasional go to westfields when we feel like it. Me time is--> on bos, watching tv shows, reading manga, while I work, if that makes sense.

For me I do homework, some practice questions and study notes throughout the weekend. Then on Fridays I take the night off and I go places with friends. Then on weekends I finish Friday's homework, make flashcards and any other study I need to do. I also do homework in the library at lunch time so that saves me time throughout the week
