Help us out please.
In the line, "time waited anxiously with us" - it's personification, but what is its effect ? What is it saying about them and there journey. Is it saying that time is not effecting them, or is it saying that time is having a big effect, or wat !!???
thanks.......

You can interpret in any way you want to, but I get the feeling that skrzynecki is trying to create a metaphor or correspondence between the train and time....it serves to complicate the journey in terms of time - the sense that time seems to move ahead leaving them in the past, but also that the guillotine, in "cutting us off from the space of eyesight" cuts them off from the past as well - ie the immigrants are in some indeterminate stage, as they are in crossing.

Edit: maybe you weren't after the second bit. In terms of your question, I think it's mainly the first part of my answer.

Wtf? UAI is rank, you'd have to be the smartest person of our age in the state to get 100.

Wow, that was a little too complex for me......
So, to say that time is personified, is to show how there being left in the past in a way, meaning there journey, at there current stage is not really progressing. Ill use wat you said about time getting ahead of them, and that its showing how there at a kind of waiting stage in there journey...........

Time is personified as the poem shoes that the only certainity is the companionship of time. the personas feel completely alone and their pain and uncertainity will only be healed with the passing of time. Thereefore time is personified to give it strength because it has a sort of power over the personas..
bullshit bullshit bullshit

Yeh ill use that aswell. Ill say time is personified to show that time is required to heal these people, but there at a stage in there journey where they are just waiting for there journey to continue.
