Hey all,

I have a question concerning the evolution of the australian kangaroo..

Does anyone know a certain environmental change that led to changes within the kangaroo other than their teeth.

I really need help with so i am grateful to any feedback,

as australia drifted north, the climate became warmer and dryer. as a result of that, large sections of rainforests perished reducing habitat areas. It can be argued that with climate change, smaller versions of the kangaroo were more adapted to the changing climate and managed to live longer than the larger kangaroos (there is evidence for megafauna and the kangaroo was one such animal which had been part of the megafauna). As the smaller ones could live longer and produce off spring, the size of kangaroos gradually decreased until they are about the size they are today.

*when i say 'more adapted' i just mean that the smaller kangaroos could find food, shelter, mates etc more easily than their larger counter parts.
