i know that incomplete combustion of 1-propanol was :

propanol + oxygen -> carbonmonoxide + carbon + water

Q: can sumone tell me the chemical equation of the incomplete combustion of 1-propanol including all the states...

thanx ... please reply ASAP

There will be more than 1 correct answer.

Just make sure you balance everything out.
One of the answers might look like this:

C3H7OH (l) + 2 O2 (g) --> CO (g) + 2 C (s) + 4 H2O (l)

Complete:

2C3H7OH (l) + 9O2 (g) --> 6CO2 (g) + 8H2O (l)

Incomplete:

2C3H7OH (l) + 5O2 (g) --> 4CO (g) + 2C (s) + 8H2O (l)

?

Remember that the formation of water is always complete.

You know how many oxygens there are by balancing the equations. As for the products of an incomplete combustion, you can have, carbon dioxide, carbon, or a combination thereof.

I normally include carbon dioxide aswell.
So,

C3H8O(aq) + 3O2(g) ➝ CO(g) + CO2(g) + C(s) + 4H2O(g)

I'm pretty sure thats balanced, though I get the feeling it isn't.
