I've gotten to step 2, but with step 3 I keep getting 9*64P-8 which is not true.

Assumption = 9(9^k-1)-8k = 64P which is the same as 9^(k+1)-9-8k

By rearranging that in step 3 I keep getting 9(64P)-8 --> which is not true

Need help

I think what we see here is that Sxmm knows what he is doing but I think he has some difficulties with the values when expanding which is mathematically correct but it leads to complications. Trebla's idea uses the previous assumption where and that is used in the new equation after the completion of finding what is.

Yeah I just tried expanding rather than making 9^k+1 the subject, makes sense now
