Dialogue between different faiths to explore common areas and differences with the aim of fostering understanding and tolerance

Representatives of various religions cooperated in the organisation of the Interfaith Chapel at the Sydney Olympic Games.
Councils of Christians and Jews have been operating in New South Wales and Victoria since the 1980s to promote such principles as understanding of each other's religion and removal of the causes of racial and religious conflict.
The World Council of Churches, with which the National Council of Churches in Australia is affiliated, has vigorously promoted inter-faith dialogue and has recently organised dialogues between Christians and Hindus (on religious extremism in India); Christians and Muslims (on human rights); Christians, Jews and Muslims (on Jerusalem); and Christians and Buddhists.
