I'm Cam, I'm on off-distance student at Deakin, currently in Cuscu, Peru and helping out at an organisation called Proyecto Peru - a Spanish school and volunteer/intern placement agency. Peru, and Cusco in particular, is a privileged place because of its impressive history, culture and nature. Unfortunately it is also a region where many people live in poverty and do not have the resources to give their children a good meal or education.
We are seeking interns in the area of child care, orphanages, school care, sports and English education in primary schools, medical clinics, community work and marketing for non-profit organizations. Depending on the project, you can teach, take care of children, organize activities or help a project with the organization, marketing or fundraising. This is a great way to gain valuable experience during a gap year or university holidays.
With Proyecto Peru we organize our own projects and place students in various social projects in and around Cusco. The difference between our organization and other organizations is that we don’t charge any money for that. We organise this placement for you (for free) if you take Spanish lessons and / or accommodation. We offer Spanish classes for both beginners and advanced students.
