is it worth putting UNSW psych honours as a preference again for Jan Round 1 f I’m 1.5 below this year’s selection rank? I got no adjustment points asw. UAC shows N/A for the lowest selection rank in Jan R1. Does that mean no offers were made after dec?

From what I saw on their website, UNSW only accepted about 70 students into this course this year, so it seems much more competitive than I thought.

honestly I have no idea, and yeah its soo competitive bro, I got in through gateway 1st round but I switched to psych sci + on the gateway day at the uni soooo many people wanted to do psych honours.
also just know that even if ur in the degree psych honours, u arent guaranteed a spot in the honours program for ur final year. u have to apply for it and they only accept a certain amount.

I think u can try since ur score was high if ur only 1.5 below, but place psych sci as a preference underneath cos im pretty sure u learn the almost the exact same things, just have extra stuff throughout the later years in the degree. I'll link below the progression plan for psych sci no major and psych honours single degree so u can see.

Another thing I think u can do is get into psych sci and apply through IPT (Internal Program Transfer) for psych honours the term/year after (whenever it lets u cos its diff for every degree) and u wouldnt even miss anything since ur doing the same units except psych honours has one extra in year 1 term 1. The website has the details for ipt requirements, I'm just not too sure as to how it would work since it's so similar.

PROGRESSION PLANS:
Psych honours: https://www.unsw.edu.au/content/dam...Psychology (Honours) 3632 - T1 2026 START.pdf

Psych sci: https://www.unsw.edu.au/content/dam...l Science 3435 - No Major - T1 2026 START.pdf

IPT info:
According to that^, to transfer into psych honours you need:
- minimum 75 WAM (aim higher, what I've heard from uni students maybe around 77-78)
- minimum 36 Units of credit
- I think u need to wait a year cos it says it only accepts T1 Idk tho!
Must also have minimum Psychology average of 75, and completed a minimum of 12 UOC PSYC core courses as part of the Psychology major sequence. You must also have 48 UOC or more left to complete in your current program.

Anyways this is all just an alternative if you REALLY wanna do psych honours at unsw - just know that you will still have to apply for honours even tho ur degree says 'honours' + psych sci u can also apply for psych sci honours in the final year. It's almost the same thing.

The fact that u have to apply for honours even tho the degree says honours is clickbait 😭
