I hear from students that macq is a very boring place to be compared to usyd and unsw. Also macq is like in the middle of nowhere so its hard to bum around properly while unsw and usyd r so accessible to / from the city

any thoughts?

it all depends what you bring to it. it also depends what you want to do to bum around. i find it fine, anywhere is fun if you have friends. if you don't mind lazing around on the grass then that's fine. if you prefer to go off and go shopping (to somewhere better than mac centre) or do things in the city, then the other unis will be the place for you.

i have been fortunate because i don't have any huge breaks, so i don't get bored while i am at uni anyway. there aren't that many hours in the day so i don't find the need to fill the small amount of hours that there are with doing other things.

in short, i don't find it boring.

if you know of other reasons that the other unis are more fun post them here and we can tell you if it's true or not.

good point - i don't use the gym but we have one. we don't have a pool but they will put one in during the next few years. the shops are 15min (max) walk away, as you probably know. of course there is the bar and the cafe. i know a lot of people from this board spenf their time in the games room playing pool. and there's the grass as i said before :D

I dont find it boring ... iambored is right when he said that anywhere is fun if you have friends.

We waste soo much time just sitting around talkin in the upstairs cafeteria, with different people comming and going ... one of my friends sat there 5 hrs straight lol.

To me, mq isnt in the middle of nowhere... and since i drive and so does most of my friends, its easy for us to drive to nearby locations during our breaks, and also to eachothers houses

I dont know how it is compared to other unis ... but ill go as far to say i luv mq, and i know my usyd/uts friends are secretly jealous of me :p (they're sick of the city - ul get sick of any place if u go there too much - and its too far compared to 10min away mq)

but anyways, you shouldnt be bumming .... study ;)

you can walk across the road to Macquarie shopping centre which is like any Westfield

I saw Dodgeball in my break today :D

Macq isn't really in the middle of no where, it's sort of out of the way, it's 20 mins west for me, it's not on the way to anything, as-such, but it's still the closest uni for thousands of students who live up here, beaches students included.

Well the area it's located in is uber boring. I've lived around here all my life. There's fuck all to do except go to Mq centre.

I wouldn't know about the uni itself though.

well go there then, otherwise you will be one of the many students who come to mac and spend their time wishing they were elsewhere.

MQ has the best atmosphere out of any campus in Sydney hands down. There isn't as much to do 'near' the campus...hence we have a concentration of people bumming ON campus.

I live in Epping near Beecroft Rd, which is ideally located in terms of closeness to uni and stuff to do for a uni student (Epping Hotel's my local..).

i suppose what i do like about uni is bumming on campus, if i want to go somewhere else i'll go some other time. it's like the campus becomes your second home, you get to know the bits and pieces, where to sleep, eat, do work etc. and become comfortable there. that's what i found today anyway. it was cool.

edit:
MONNIE - no, this is my 'staple' av, i'll change it sometimes but always come back to this one, for a while still at least. :p :)
