Hey, everyone I'm really worried about my UAI because I screwed up my maths exam and it is only general maths..

I've got (from a public crappy :p school)
Adv eng (trial)75% (rank overall) 9/42
general maths 52% 30/60
community and family studies 90% 1/30
food tech 69% 1/8
society and culture 93% 1/8

For some reason I really screwed up in maths, i have always been 'mathematically' challenged but I studied so hard for it :( Now I still have 2 weeks to go but ever since I feel like my UAI is going to be like below 30 so theres no point in even trying anymore. If I get band 6s for my last 3 subjects which i think i can, is there any hope at all..

If I dont get into uni i literally have not got a clue what I will do, I want to go to be a primary school teacher, but on top of my shit marks so far now it is going to be even harder to get in

awwwww....dun be so sad
i'm sure you will do fine...
i've also never been great at maths and i think i stuffed up my maths exam also...except i do 2unit...
if u try hard and do well in all the other subjects you've got i'm sure you can still get into the course you want to do...
i'm hoping that my bad maths mark won't stuff up my UAI too!

Hey Stacie =)

I've got some friends who do general and across the board, people have said the exam was a bitch n a half. Sure you'll get some super brainy arrogant shit who thinks it was a piece of cake (who should really be doing 4U maths) but if the exam was hard and lots of people did quite poorly, you won't suffer don't worry!

You've got 2 weeks? That's heaps of time! Just lift your game in those other subjects. Some of your ranks are excellent so don't lose hope. If you work your arse off, who knows, you could top the state in those subjects you came first in! (well, you can choose to be realistic, but stuff that)

Anyway, I'm not exactly sure what marks you need for teaching, but lots of unis take STAT and flexible entry into account. You can also do flexible degrees at some unis (not down pat with the details) but you actually go to uni, do a few subjects and then provided you do well, they'll accept you into any course and you get credit for the subjects you take. I have a good friend who does that because her uai wasn't fabulous, and she was really worried then, but she's really happy now.

So basically, yes, there is reason to hope, but if things don't work out to plan, there's a billion other ways to skin the cat =)

Thanks guys..I really hope I can just get into the course I want to
I hate having to wait until the very last day, in some ways I'm envious of people who finished in the first 2 weeks-I just have more time to work myself into a complete and utter panic!!

don't worry stacie!
just think forward to the time u'll have post hsc!
and besides, there are plenty of options to do regardless of ur uai...to some extent :p

anyway, ur nerdy enough to be posting on these forums so ur way above the majority of the state
good luck!
