A lack of motivation for lying does not make something truth. And I commented on the similarity between the marks, as a part of a larger similarity between the two stories. It seems odd- if you ended up writing your MW in a rush for HExt, why did you go on to leave your EE2 major til the last minute as well? Shouldn't you have learned by then that its no fun doing that?
It does happen, the last minute masterpieces. Every school has the stories of the person who didn't study but got 95, the boy who started the PIP only a week before and won a prize for it, etc. But is it really helpful to highight these cases? They're aberrations- the majority of good MWs come from consistent effort over a decent period of time, not the night before. Most people who found themselves in your situation would be lucky to get a pass mark back. The majority of teenagers are prone to procrastination. Rather than encourage the 1% of students who are capable of pulling it together in a short space of time, this sort of story probably just gives our inner slacker fodder for those moments when we're thinking 'I don't really have to do it right now.'
