Introduce and evaluate TWO contrasting interpretations of Shakespeare's King Lear. You must also prepare a 700-800 word summary to issue the students. These summarys notes must contain:

-an outline of the approaches taken by two critics, with close reference to their articles/essays;

-a detailed analysis of one or two key scenes in the play, in which you show how these two critical approaches differ;and

- an evaluation, in which you explain which of the two critical approaches is more convincing and valid to you

I REALLY REALLY NEED HELP ON THIS, CAN SOMEONE PLEASE PROVIDE ME WITH INFORMATION, HELP OR ANYTHING. I WOULD BE GRATEFUL.

THANK YOU VERY MUCH!

I don't really understand if the q is asking you to get two versions, or find 2 critics who wrote bout Lear?
Well first of all you need to decide what two interpretations you're going to use
And then you need to find some critics who have some stuff to say about KL
ie if you were doing Eyre's version you coudl use teh critic Pamela Bradley (think thats her name) and say she took the viewpoint that this was a feminist reading and says that modern women often are able to empathise strongly with the elder two sisters in Eyre’s film etc etc, whereas someone else viewed it as a family reading etc
And then you chose your scene/s, the love contest would prob be a good one to use, maybe the death scene as you can say well this critic thought Lear dies thinking Cord lives and vica versa
Hope this helps a bi
