There are a few techniques used by Brook which I need some clarification on about their effects.

I noticed that Lear as depicted by Schofields uses a monotone style of speech. What is the effect of this and what does it show? Arrogance?

Other techniques for which i don't understand the intended effect:
-When lear talks inthe beginning scenes, we caanot see his mouth
-The Setting in this opening scene

Any help is appreciated
