What exactly are you looking for help with? I saw the movie two years ago for enjoyment, but didn't actually take any notes. From memory, some themes of belonging:

- The slave and the boss. The relationship between the two men is reflected in the relationship between the two boys.
- Despite growing up, the affiliation between the boys never wavered. The 'boss' eventually came back to look for the 'slave', found out he was dying, and took his son back to America. This sort of relationship ensures a sense of belonging.
- The sense of cultural belonging that is instilled in the persona, to his heritage of Afghanistan.
- The symbol of the kites - a hobby which symbolises togetherness, the creation and formation of shared beliefs which create a group mentality.

Just some ideas. :)

THanks Aerath, i now have more to go on :). I was mainly focusing on the belonging of Amir to America and lack of in Afghanistan e.g. 'youve always been a tourist'.

But im struggling a bit with the Afghani heritage and the belonging aspects in that :S i dont see how he has belonging to Afghanistan in the book since he only goes back on request from an old friend.
