If you really want to do this course and the cutoff happens to rise above your uai for the late rounds, just do the course which you got into in the main round, gain an above credit average and then you are guaranteed to transfer into soical science.

Stop worrying so much :)

is this always the case though because my main round offer has lapsed as i didn't accept. I mean is there any possibility at all i will still get in, do you know how much they usually rise by, because i got 60.65 (.65 above the cut off) so if it only rises like .45 or wateva i'm safe.

It will really depend on a number of things:

How full the course is already - how many vacacies are left therefore if theres not a lot of space left, the cutoff could go up significantly, but if theres heaps of space left, there shouldn't be much of a cut off.

But really, its impossible to guess - its like guessing cut offs for the main round.

oh oh i jus remembered, in RET test i got 67....that's 7 marks above the cut off, that becomes my 'new uai' sort of eh?? do you think when their considering late round offers they will automatically look at the RET mark and not just the uai?? if so i have a better chance eh

Maybe, I'm not too sure how the RET thing works. Or if its even included in the later rounds.

Its alright ... don't be worried. If it doesn't work out, theres always other options. If you re-arrange your preferences and put social science first they will look at it and choose to accept you or not. I'm pretty sure thats how it works.

why didnt you accept????? *slap own forehead*
always accept, you never know it might be your ticket into uni!
if you get another offer, you can just ring the uni up and cancel the other offer, its a simple process.

About RET, you could ask/call the UAC or UWS. best to call UAC thoguh since they are the ones who are managing the offers.

The RET doesn't work point for point... so it doesn't really give you 7 extra points. They do have records of it though. So if you're being considered for an offer and they can't choose between you and someone else they will look at that score.... and don't worry I'm in the same boat as you lol. I've accepted a spot at UOW but i'm waiting to see if i can get into B/Social Science at UWS. I thought the UAI was 65 or something??? I have my fingers crossed coz i clear it and there are vacancies!!! YAY!!! Guess I'll just have to wait and see otherwise i get to go to Wollongong yay.... *rolls eyes*

Well it depends are you going for a place at Bankstown or penrith?? Penrith's cut off is 60.00, Bankstown is 65.15. Well either way good luck on getting in! Fingers Crossed!!!!

Well I def think you're in with a better shot than me. I think more people will go for Bankstown than Penrith just cos it's not so far away.... If Penrith was closer i would have put that down and wouldn't be worrying so much lol. I clear the UAI by a few marks so hopefully there won't be too many ppl going for the same course! I'm just really against going to UOW atm... really don't want to.

yes but the people with uai's of 62 etc will go for penrith :(, if you clear it by a few marks your in a way better position than me. I don't even clear it by 1.00

hiphop why didn't you accept your main round offer ? and what was it, anyways ? say you do get an offer in the late round for social science, you could easily accept that one and reject your 1st offer. and say you DON'T get a late round offer, you could use your main round offer as your ticket in.. then make the grades and later on transfer to social science. win-win, mate.

btw im in the same situation. my main round offer was social science, but i wanted to do arts or communication. i accepted it tho and attended the advisory session thing. hoping to get late round offers for either arts or comm =/

As long as you accept something, you will be fine, like what Annegelic said. Just transfer. I dunno why you didn't accept your main round offer hiphophorray123. Atleast if you did you could have something to fall back on if the worst came to the worst. It isn't that hard to achieve an above credit average.

hiphophorray123, what are you going to do if you don't get an offer in the later rounds?
