While on the quest for finding an elective, I've come across heaps of these level 700 subjects, and they always seem to be the good subjects that seem interesting  can we do them? I have a sneaking suspicion that we can't. Thanks!

its seems funny that they are displayed in the undergraduate handbook, even if they are postgrad ones.
usually postgrad units are like 2 undergraduate units together e.g. accounting units in PG = 2 units in UG for some units. e.g. Fin accg = corp. accg systems + Fin accg applications.
bah, why am i using accg analogies...i cant do them anyway, its killing me.

never mind, i wont explain...

well, you know that you can do your electives at other unis adn have them credited to your degree? [this was natstars idea about cross insitutional study] so if its not at uws, look at other unis that are nearer who may have that subject?
also check the online handbook, their one is more up to date [e.g. the semesters they are on etc]

ok yes....here is the url cross institutional study rules etc
talk to your coordinater about th esubjects but generally if its electives, you can do it at any insitution and then get an academic credit form and fill it out. [remeber with academic forms, since its an elective, its not a substituion for another subjects so leave the part where is asks you for what this unit substitutes it for, leave it blank]

dont ask me...unless you want more er long and pissed of comments about uws rules n crap.
hope it helps

EDIT: watch out for exam clashes and timetable clashes. you have ot check the insitution on how to enrol, get a card etc.

hehe. I gotta figure out how to get in contact with their lecturers. Some friends go there and they don't even know :p

And their timetable .... fricken hell, I can't understand it :(

Edit: I wonder if I can gain academic credit for a subject that I did at uws this semester, which is just about the same as one of their subjects. Cape needs to do some investigating

aww ... poor laraB. I get to choose far too many electives. I think its about 10 all up  personally, I prefer cores, then atleast I don't have to sit around for ages trying to choose subjects that seem interesting, but in reality are boring!

all im gonna say is dont trasnfer if you want to pick electives, im left with a mangled degree and not able to major in anything :(
i like structure (being told what to do) but i got too many cores that dont fit well together (i.e. spring sem-4 level 3 subjects and they are allhard as mant have told me)
LaraB, are you doing like 2 degrees at a time? why dont you try the 1 degree at a time? makes it seem less "hectic" to me, having to juggle biz and law together.

what do you mean cape? academic credit for this semester? For uws or umac?
and call the uni up and say you are a new student or something and need to contact someone who can help you with electives for a certain subject (e.g. tourism) and theyll try to get you a number or tell youto go to their website.

nah i like it..im doing combined degree so it is like doing 1 degree at a time coz we don't pick electives for the 'minor' degree

i just woulda like a little more choice sometime before 4th year coz its kinda weird since single degree people are all choosing and we're all like aww no fair :p

there is always the 'stuff your course outline' option that is done in my degree. Im in second year doing third year subjects and this dude at parra has done my subjects in his first year, i was quite surprised the admin didnt slap him with the damn rules that i had to live with!
anyway, you have a major in hrm/ir and law..what else do you want to do?

i would've liked to be able to do business major just to broaden it a littlemore..even though technically its a double major anyways, i woulda liked to do a subject on marketing type content and one on the more economic/accounting type area fo rmy own knowledge and to leave mor eoptions open..

law is n't asbig a deal coz you pretty much do a bit of everfything then pick your area for your electives more or less

Some level 4 subjects (or onwards) which are usually reserved for postgrads can also be enrolled into by undergrad students. You will need to apply to the school offering the unit and to the least they will need to consider how many years you have been studying, what you have studied etc... For example, in law, a unit in Finance Law offered to postgrad law students can be completed by LLB students on application to the School of Law.

yeah i know that....that's what i'm saying - we don't get to pick electives til later since you can't not do co/pre req and compulsorary subjects just coz yoy wanna do electives...

i woulda liked more choice in the 1st few years rather than just the last two since its only core subjects coz we don't get to pick electives for the non law course....

I think I've confused myself. Maybe I'll take a trip out to Richmond one day and have a meeting with the course co-ordinator and see if he can help me to choose an elective.

Your spring sem sounds similar to mine. But I only chose to do one level 300 subject :p cause I'm lazy and all our cores next year are level 300, and I can even study an elective in Queensland! I'm so doing that subject :D

Depends on the elective. Social Sciences for example are made up of electives, some of which have no pre-reqs. Again I stress speaking to the coordinator. Last year I did a policing unit designed for 2/3 year students and spoke with coordinator who allowed me to enrol.
