This is a weird one...

8.78 = p^-(0.546 + 0.043logp) that log is base 10 by the way.

Solve for 'p'.

Now that's just the way it was presented to me and I don't have a definite answer, but then again, I don't even know how to do it myself.

Where does one start with this question???

Take the log of boths sides.

log(8.78)= log[p^-(0.546 + 0.043logp)] , p is positive.

-log(8.78)=(0.546 + 0.043logp) logp , by using log lawys.

0.043(logp)^2 + 0.546logP +log8.78= 0, taking all terms to one side.

logp= { -(0.546) +- sqrt[ (0.546)^2- (4 x log8.78 x .043)] } /0.086
By quadratic formula. And then evaluate using a calculator.

when you calculate it, what answers do you get?

because, with my answers, when i sub them back into the original equation, they don't work.
