So basically I got my result for my English and I lost quite a few marks due to the fact that my handwriting was hard to read in some parts. Is there any way I can gain those marks back? maybe explain to the teacher what the words are etc..?

It would be hard to argue because in the HSC exam you won’t have that luxury. If the markers can’t read what you write (they’ll usually try their best to) and it contains content that is important to the response then you will be marked on it without that content.

Try to write each letter separately instead of clumping them together (as it is tempting to do so in the HSC). Even if your handwriting is ugly, it will be more legible to the marker.

Probably saved them the trouble of them reading a bad essay.

I mean there's no excuse because judging from your subjects, you don't aspire for med and we all know how good their handwriting is.

I think I get what you mean, but my handwriting is not at a point where it’s illegible, it’s just that I write extreme cursive and some words are a bit hard to make out. Note: there was nothing much wrong with my actual essay itself I lost majority of the marks due to my handwriting
