nope

internal transfer in MQ is not done via uac UNLESS ITS LAW-RELATED(ie transfering in, not sure out)

Serious? Heaps of my friends are transferring internally, and I thought this was one of the stronger points of MQ, that they allowed internal transfers. I really don't think its only law related. All you have to do is get the required GPA and other prerequisites and then thats almost pretty much it - three of my friends have done this already.

Edit: All three were into commerce related courses, two from non commerce courses.

so how long do i have 2 wait 2 trasnfer???

is it a yr???

umm, no, depends what you are transferring into and how many units u r planning to do in a semester

if u planning to do 4units a sem(providing its 3 credit points each), and you got the gpa after a semester, u can transfer, YES, EVEN AFTER ONE SEMESTER!! :O
but for degrees like Actuarials, they require 18credit points, that is, you either do 5units a semester(which is rarely allowed for non actuarial ppl) or you wait till second semester (where you attain 12credit points in first semester, and the later 3 in the second semester)

As a summary.

(can we get a sticky explaining how transfers work cos this is like the 5th topic which is about transferring)

Enrol into a degree at MQ, preferably one which is close to your intended degree and one which a) allows freedom to choose units ( B Arts or another general degree with few cores is a go) b) uses some of the core units from the intended course in the same course (very unlikely)

[ For terminology, Cores are subjects which are mandatory in completion set forth by the university. http://handbook.mq.edu.au/degrees.php?edition=2005&level=ug Go there and select the intended degree, and view the 'Program of Study.' That is basically your guide to what subjects you will NEED to do and other such requirements. Units = Subjects, Courses = Degrees ]

Now, once you have the appropriate information, you can now go find out about your intended degrees Transfer Criteria ( Found http://handbook.mq.edu.au/PDFs/2005/ug-general-student-info.pdf, page 10.)

Now you have that, what do the numbers etc mean?

CP = Credit Points. Think of these as the HSC delegations of 'units' ie, a base unit is 2unit English/Maths. It follows that thinking, but most first year are 3 CP. There is usually a 12 or 18 CP requirement on transfers.
GPA = Grade Point Average. Basically MQ uni measures your grades on a scale of 0-4

0 = F
1 = PC (pass conceded)
2 = Pass
3 = Credit
4 = Distinction
4 = High Distinction

You take the marks you get, for example if i was doing 4 units worth 3 CP each.

A (3cp - D) B (3cp - P) C (3p - Cr) D (3p - Cr) for semester one, i would calculate the GPA as:

[ 4 (A) + 2 (B) + 3 (C) + 3 (D) ] / the # of subjects

So 12 / 4 = 3.0 GPA with 12 CP's Completed.

Hope that cleared up a few more questions.
