Im completely disillusioned with accounting and wondering if econometrics would hold as many job opportunities.

Give me advice.

you'll probably get more government based job opportunities with metrics, but more private firm job opportunities with accounting.

the majority of job opportunities would be for quantitative analysts. the job opportunities would still be good but not as good as for accounting.

imo a major in econometrics would best be complemented by a major in maths in a b science.

statsci.org has a list of econometrician jobs

Econometrics is a quantitative subject, and there is demand for them out there, and they pay very well as a graduate compared to Accounting (especially if you crack an Investment Banking job)

Econometrics and stats are pretty much equal. Too bad there isn't any recognised professional body like for Actuaries. Econometrics is a good major to pursue but I think it lacks courses in stochasic processes which is useful for Finance (These can be studied in a Stats major)

Metrics = Stats?

American sports teams are crazy about statistics, maybe you could get a high paying job there as a dream job. One of them made it into TIME 100 as well.
