There are 4 one hour lectures a week for 1131, 2 for algebra and 2 for calculus, and 1 one hour tutorial for each as well. You should do fine.

For Acturial Studies student, you MUST do 1151/1251 otherwise you cannot proceed your degree. Other 1st year maths courses are not an option to you.

hmmm. so if u dun do acturary studies, u won't need to do 1151. cause for the combined degree of com/sci, it is required u do 1 math course in the first yr. And 1151 is acturary and finance math, and i wanna major in finance so i just did it!!! and it sux.

AFAIK for commerce degree, you either do MATH1151 Maths For L33T or ECON1101 QMA. Eitherway no 1131/1141 for them.

for Bcom/Bsci joint degree, course requirement clearly state that you need to do 6UOC of math, under math department, and 6UOC of stats, for stats there are heaps of choices. But math i am not sure if u can do 1131, cause 1151 is called Actrary and Financial math, which kinda sound commerce..

I think best thing you can do is check which maths you can do at science office or commerce office...

In a BCom degree, MATH1151 is for Actuarial Students. QMA is the 'norm' for other students'.

In a BCom/BSci degree, only take MATH1151/1251 if you are doing Actuarial or Finance/Maths. In a BCom/BSci degree, you can do MATH1131/1141 as they satisfy the 'math' requirements - but you will still needs a stats subject eg. MATH1041, ACTL2002 etc.

For those wishing to major in Mathematics with other majors, the School of Maths website provides excellent sample programs under Programs and Courses -->Details of Programs
