I'm in year 11 currently. If i do the 2 unit HSC Mathematics course this year (ie. accelerated) and then do 4 unit Mathematics next year (i.e. 3 and 4 unit exams), will my 2 unit results be counted towards my HSC mark?

If you accelerate 2 Unit Mathematics, but then later attempt the Mathematics Extension 1 and Mathematics 2 courses, then 2 Unit Mathematics will still be recorded in your HSC Record of Achievement, but it won't be included in calculating your UAI.

Actually, once you have sat your Ext 2 exam in Mathematics, your 2u Mathematics marks will cease to exist for all practical terms regarding the UAI- even if you perform worse in 4u than 2u. The reasoning for this is that 2u maths is asssumed knowledge for the 4u course and effectively becomes like your prelim.

Thanks kami, A l for correcting me. I just thought that if you accelerated 2-unit, you'd keep that mark if you went on for 4-unit. No, says the Board.
