in the non-calc section

how do u work out - (3x104)x(2x10-6)

lol im good at asking questions on here

*the 4 and -6 are indices (to the power of)

You add the indices, then multiply the other numbers. It should get you the answer.. (I think)

it's not minus because 10^-6 means 0.000001 not -0.000001

And 10^4 = 10000

so 3 x 10^4 x 2 x 10^-6 = 6 x 10^-2 = 0.06

He thought it was minus because plus times minus is minus where that rule doesn't apply here.

And by "plus" I am referring to the whole number not the indices.

and he never said minus a minus is a plus as well

I wouldn't argue with Iyounou when it comes to mathematics dude.
And plus, you're in year 10 so you aren't as competent as the people who are doing their HSC. Sorry dude, its the way it goes.
