does anyone do mining eng next year and why did you choose it? like as opposed to civ or mech

i'm doing a double degree and don't get to do the mining until 3rd year.
i chose it because i like studying rocks, i like looking at minerals and i like blowing stuff up with tnt
and also there's a massive demand for mining engineers right now, so you'll be guaranteed a job when you get out of uni and you'll get paid a shitload of money too.
