Hello All,

I'm new to these forums so please forgive me if this is not in the right section.

Anyway, there was this question that rose in a test I did the other day. It asked how many atoms are in 1 molecule of a certain substance (I dont remember what it was now) any help would be greatly appreciated.

thanks

well firstly u need to work out the fotmula of the compound.

as an example, lets work out the no. of atoms in a molecule of ethanoic acid, formula is:

CH3COOH.

Now we just count the number of atoms of each species in the molecule. There are 2 carbons, 4 hydrogens and 2 oxygens. Therefore there are 8 atoms in 1 molecule of ethanoic acid.
