Well that is some good news out of guantanomo bay....at least it gives the impression that they are not just charging people for the sake of it.

well that is my quintessential problem with the US. They dont practice what they preach....they go around saying they are spreading freedom and democracy, but the you look back home, and they are imprisioning people indefinately, vilating their freedoms. And with democracy, they cant even get it right themselves (*remembers 2000 election*)

oh well at least this is a step in the right direction

While I do appreciate your attempts to troll, may i politely suggest that you think up some new material? This kind of crap became outdated months ago.

If you had this many people locked up, could u pick out the ones that are terrorists and those who aren't?
America released someone once and a few months later he appeared on a kidnapping video..

They have no right to freedom, they have no rights.

They were not prisoners of wars. In international law they have no rights.

Such as spys they have no legal status protecting them and could be executed on the spot if it was desired.

Thats excatly right, the american government covered it up by saying they aren't on American land so they don't have the same rights.

I was reading a bit about this on that sky news interactive thingy.

For the preview all it said was "Howard refuses to apologise to Habib".

They're releasing him, but they haven't exactly said that he is innocent. In a sense they had grounds to detain him, perhaps not indefinately and without releasing full details... But this day in age if you've got reasonable suspicion or evidence it should be enough.
That said, I'm not totally sure what or how much they had on Habib

Remeber when the British suspects were returned to Britiain. It may still exsist that the Australian government could still charge him Habib, although the incompetence of ASIO tends to suggest they wont be able to. This may in fact be reward from the Americans for Australia's support, however obscure this is. The release of habib and the conditions have notably been ommitted by the media in an attempt to vindicate themselves from defirmation claims by the Habib family. As far as i can see he can still be considered at terrorist.
