whats your budget for an english tutor? what is 'expensive' to you?

I think you should talk with your teacher first. Ask them for feedback on any response, whether it be a practice q or homework. There's no point paying for tutors if your not using the resources already available. You can also ask for feedback on one of these forums and other students can help, but imo u should go to your teacher first.
If you can lmk how u prep/study for english, I can prolly point out or suggest a few things. It may be an error in your study method. But ye, I'm happy to help. Or you can check out my other posts about english, maybe something can be of use.

unless you go to the top ones like delta or jp then group tutoring really isn’t worth it esp if your main priority is not to get band 6 essays into high band 6 essays but to seek major improvement for poor english skills. i do think private is more worth it as they can cater more to your abilities and skill level, or if you go to group tutoring try and find a class with very few people so you are able to have some extent of personalised learning from and with the tutor

another alternative i had with one of my students last year who had a similar situation was that we held lessons only once a fortnight

if you can’t afford a tutor, perhaps you could try and find people willing to mark your work (feedback services?) that way you won’t be constrained by your budget but in turn you’ll get a lot of feedback on what you need to improve on

To be honest other than for assessments i never rlly did any extra english study from y7-11. i did fine from y7-10 but in y11 my marks were terrible

I agree with what @Masaken said. On top of that, you should start going through past papers on thsc and js doing practice questions. Most importantly, study with the aim of getting a band 6. Theres no point setting a low goal cos then u might fall short.
