Find the sum of the first 10 terms of the series

3+7+13+...+[2^n +(2n-1)] +...

split it up

geometric + arithmetic -1

sum = (2n+1 -1)/(2-1) + 2*(n/2)(n+1) - n

when n = 10

sum = 2049 + 110 - 10 = 2149

Or you could do it manually. There's only ten.

Find the sum of the first 10 terms of the series
3+7+13+...+[2^n +(2n-1)] +...

This is the same as:
When n = 1; = 2 + 1
when n = 2; = 4 + 4
when n = 3; = 8 + 5
Therefore, you have a geometric and arithmetic series as such:
2 + 4 + 8 + ... 2<sup>10</sup> (geometric)
plus
1 + 4 + 5 + ... (2.10 - 1) (arithmetic)
Now use your formula's.
