No.

ADSL is ready when iiNet forward your details onto Telstra, who will then provision the line for you.

This may take up to 2-3 weeks (4 weeks tops! Usually 2 weeks is the minimum wait time, but it could be less depending on the case), but if you are lucky, if your line is good and ADSL enabled (with spare ports at your exchange), then you will be able to get it within 10 days or less.

You apply and sign up for an ADSL connection through iiNet (online or one the phone, it does not matter). They collect your details and forward this to Telstra.

Telstra will then (when they feel like it) check and enable your line, if you live within the exchange radius (I believe 2-3km from the exchange). If you have free ports available at the exchange, then it is a simple matter of enabling your line and provisioning it for ADSL.

Tip: do not purchase an ADSL modem before your line has been provisioned. iiNet will send you an email when the line is ready, so that you will be able to connect your ADSL modem to the line and have it working (also, purchase filters and splitters if necessary, there are other threads on this matter, if not, iiNet will sell you the modem and/or necessary filters and equipment if you cannot supply your own).

It is all up to Telstra to provision the line, not iiNet.

Be patient, you had only signed up last week. If you wait for more than 2 weeks, then you might be frustrated. But it is all up to Telstra to do their thing.

Good luck, check your email regularly for any iiNet emails and updates on your sign-up/connection.

Sit back and relax - get some sleep if you have to, to pass the time :)

edit
Forgot to mention:

If are on a PGS (pair-gain system), then you will not be able to receive ADSL at all, as ADSL requires that the line (a full line) be 'intact'. If you are rejected for ADSL, then one of the reasons might be that you are living in a high-density area which requires lines to be 'split' or shared between customers (residents).

Therefore, you will not be able to receive ADSL unless you move. If you have an Optus telephone line, then you will not be able to receive ADSL. Telstra has a website which allows you to check to see if your area and line (via the phone number) is able to be connected to ADSL - there is also another website at Telstra which allows you to see how many ports are available at your local exchange.

Check to see if ADSL is available on your line
http://www.telstra.com.au/adsl/ordering/search.cfm

ADSL Demand Register

ADSL Coverage Map

Check the status of your account online - with a tentative ETA
https://toolbox.iinet.net.au/cgi-bin/bliinkstatus.cgi

iiNet will email you with a username and password.

Notes
Please quote the job reference number when contacting iiNet support about
the status of your account.

Account status progresses in the following order

Pending:
Application has been received and processed internally by iiNet
Request Sent to Telstra:
Application has been submitted to Telstra
Provisioning:
Telstra have acknowledged the request, and supplied a tentative ETA
Active: Account is ready to use

Tentative ETAs are only tentative dates. Actual completion dates may vary

The formal was fine, and I didn't take too many photos. I can't post them because some people contained in the photos are members of this forum. I wouldn't want to put their picture up on the Internet (even though I am in it) without asking them first. I doubt they'd want it up anyway.

Sorry Newbie, :(

umm..is there any reason why when i type this command it comes up for a few seconds and then goes away? I made out a few of the words...a few were "foreign address" but it wont stay up long enough for me to pick anything else.

Also (i know it doesnt quite go here...but anyway), MS Antispyware picked up a "possible browser hijack" on bigpond which i removed after scanning with Aaware, Spybot, Bazooka...and none of them picked it up. Only some of the scanners pick up things that others dont. Any reason?

Thanks

Try:

Start > Run > "cmd" (win 2k/xp) "command" (win 9x)
netstat

it should stay open
