I've searched the threads and found newcastles UAI cut off to be 93 or 93.8, which one is it? Cause i got 93.05 so either the cut off is too high or i'm above it.

from memory, it's 93.8, which is supposed to make for the top 10% of the state i think (i know the uai is correct but the reasoning may be wrong). As long as you're above that uai is unlikely to matter. bad luck for you tho :(

If you are in the top 10% of the state wouldn't that mean a UAI cut off of 90?

yeah i know.... that's what i thought as well. the only thing i can think of is that not everyone gets a uai (doesn't want it/dropped out) but i think the uai percentages are allocated as if everyone who did the school certificate also applied for a uai, whereas uncle med considers 10% of the people who did the hsc, which is a smaller number. don't ask for a source, i couldn't name you one, but that's the only idea that jumps to mind right now.
still, i'm sure about it being 93.8...

The percentiles are issued based on all students who should have been taking the HSC that year, according to the year in which they sat the School Certificate. Thus it includes people who have dropped out since finishing year 10, or who did not apply for a UAI.
