oil refinery, vacuum distillation (1 Viewer)

Im doing an assesment on industrial separation and i chose the distillation of crude oil. Ive read atmospheric and vacuum distillation are used, but i cant find any detailed information on vacuum distillation.
help would be extremly appreciated!

where did you find the info then?!

I'm not entirely certain myself, but I believe it is when you reduce pressure so that porptions with lower vapour will evaporate first, and maybe distilled out...

A bit like fractional distillation, except you reduce pressure rather than increase temperature...
