Hi hopefully I can explain this dot point to you.

The dotpoint requires you to compare the two systems (similarities and differences) and you must give an example or an organism with such a system.

As the name suggestions, an open circulatory system means that the transport of materials is not enclosed in any vessels. In contrast a closed circulatory system as the name suggests, the transport of material is enclosed in a vessel, the blood vessel.

The example I would give is grasshoppers for open circulatory system and humans for closed circulatory system.

In an open circulatory system, there are no blood vessels as the haemolypmh is pumped directly into cells. This therefore requires little energy. This circulatory system generally transport only nutrients and wastes.

In contrast, a circulatory system contains blood vessels. The blood vessels are used to transport blood and essential chemicals around the body. This system allows you to carry more oxygen however at the cost of more energy being required.

The similarity I guess is that in both systems, both organism have a heart.
