Find how many arrangements of the letters of the word TRANSITION are possible if the letter N is not at either end?

not really sure how to do this question in the cases that either I or T are at the first or last positions. Thanks !!

I have honestly forgotten perms but I would approach that question by first finding the total number of ways to arrange TRANSITION. so 10!/2!2!2!. then you find the number of ways you can have N at each side so 2!(as the Ns can swap around) x 8! (for the rest of the letters. The you minus this value from the total value so you can find the number of ways wihtout N at the end. so 453600-80640=372960. Im so sorry if this isnt the right answer but I hope it guides you to the right path.
