i have a physics asses soonish have to do first hand investigation on motion and our teacher is gay and is away for 6 weeks so no one has ne clue what they are doin in my class so ne experiments on motion that are doable are much appreciated.
try emulating foucaults pendulum. it's pretty simple and is the basis for a lot of modern thinking about how the planets move in relation to other bodies and space itself.
this is Dr Karl's science site on the ABC website.
baisically the pendulum (set up properly) should continue to swing without a change in speed. the velocity changes as the earth spins [as the velocity of the earth changes it appears that the pendulums velocity has changed, when in fact it has remained on its path] proving that an object set moving in empty space will continue along it's designated path until interuppted by an opposite force. it also proves that the earth turns on it's axis.
