It is great that you are starting off on your PIP early, and that you're so motivated! However, you really should think about conducting your surveys the old-fashioned way and distributing paper copies to schools. Conducting a survey like this online is not a reliable way to gather research data, as the respondents can view the answers of others prior to writing their own response, and you have no way of knowing that they are who they say they are. Also, you will get more useful responses if you don't make the respondents work so hard - so many open-ended questions with 'explain your answer' is asking the respondents to your survey to do the PIP for you, and they will get bored of this and not bother answering them properly. For a survey, especially when you aren't administering it yourself, go for as many closed-ended questions as possible.
For more on this, see the thread 'Notes on Online Research' which I posted earlier this year.
Good luck - it's an interesting topic and has great potential links to S&C!

6. Who do you think uses technology more males or females? Explain your answer.
I don't think it's gender based - everyone uses technology for different reasons. I think it is more that males and females use it for different purposes eg. more males online for gaming and females something else? But the time spent consumed with technology is the relatively the same.

7. What do you believe is the main purpose males and females use technology for? Do they have different purposes? Explain your answer.
I just said they did in Q.6 haha. More males gaming, females chatting/social networking + online shopping.

8. In your opinion what is the most popular technology that is used? For example, mobile phones, the internet etc. Explain your answer.
Mobile phones FTW! They're always portable - hence available everywhere. Internet comes a close second just coz not everyone can access it everywhere they go.

9. Do people communicate face to face more nowadays or through the use of technology? Explain your answer.
Tehc - MSN, sms, phone, myspace, bebo, facebook etc...

10. Do you think your surroundings have influenced the way you use technology? Do you think if you lived somewhere different you would/ would not use technology as much? Explain your answer.
DEFINITELY! Isolation in rural communities less tech. use. I visited a country town near Tamworth 2 years ago and the family I stayed with had Internet but hardly used it. Like I would go online daily so I was DYING.

Living in an urban suburban area definitely gives you greater access to various forms of technology. AND you just CANNOT live without it here! They can live without it in the country but city people have in some sense been born with it - into it - whatever,

P.S I agree with the person above about people being discouraged to fill in surveys with more than like 2 open-ended questions. (My survey had heaps of closed-ended questions and like 3 really easy open-ended questions and people still complained)

You would find people that have been through the PIP or IRP or other researching major would empathise with what you are doing and more willing to fill them in but A LOT of others would not really give a damn because it's your work not theirs.
