Can someone give me an idea of what the assessments for these subjects are like (eg test vs essay vs speech and difficulty levels)

For ecop it's mostly essay based followed by a final exam (with occasional tutorial papers in some).
Government subjects are often also essay based (with a final exam).
Both disciplines also require tutorial participation.

For 2005 Assessment criterion for GOVT 1105, GOVT 1202, ECOP 1001 AND ECOP 1002 were:

GOVT 1105 Geopolitics

1. Critical Reading Assignment 15% (involved reading 2 articles then comparing them) 800 words.

2. Bibliographic Assignment 10% (locate 5 items for the next assessment. Write a paragraph on each assessment) whole thing 500 words

3. Breifing Paper 30% (pick one of the 9 areas - examples included "Conduct on the War in Iraq"or "Asylum Seekers" or "The Rise of China". Pretend you are a consultant writing a paper on which course of action is best to pursue.) 2000 words.

4. Exam, some multiple choice (which btw, was of no relation to the READINGS as was stated but rather all about the LECTURES which everyone slept through...) and 2 essays.
GOVT 1202 World Politics

1. 1000 word Analytical Essay on either Saudi Arabia and Oil, North Korea and its nuclear program or China and its growing Economy. 10%.

2. 2000 word Analytical Essay on either the two different levels on analysis in SALT I negotiations or Taiwans decision not to seek independence OR the rational choice theory in relation to Hitlers decision to Invade Poland or The Cuban Missile Crisis.

3. Exam 40 Multiple Choice.

ECOP 1001 Economics as a Social Science

1. 20% Tutorial Participation

2. 10% Mini Essay (it was about the Tsuanami this year and the social and economic impact of)

3. 20% 1200 word Essay (pick one of three topics)

4. 50% 90 minute Exam

ECOP 1002 Economy and Policy

Can't remember, the whole episode was really painful and I've lost everything. Anyone else care to enlighten them?

they can change the examination structure and course outlines between years you know?

what is the obsession?

you will find out in a couple of weeks after your first lecture what the course structure will be.

Jeez.

Here's a hint: in each eco faculty subject, the mark is out of 100.
Really, 100? I'm just thanking the person who posted such information for taking the effort to do so, that's all. It's not like i'll be waiting to do an essay on the cuban missile crisis.

I started my cuban missile crisis one week after it was due. I handed it in three hours later. I didn't do too badly on that essay either. So maybe you should wait.
Oh, thankyou for that. Now I definitely wont start it. Because I was going to, you know, the one on North Korea and it's evil nuclear weapons program too.

P.S: If you ever want help/advice for any subjects I did feel free to pm me.

P.P.S: Only if you want to of course

P.P.P.S: I have Narcissistic Personality Disorder (which basically means that even my shrink thinks i'm a dickhead). So take it easy on me, I can't really stop being a bastard.
That's okay... thankyou. :) .
