My preliminaries were fine, i got 93% for my physics exam and i realise that my problem was with long responces

How can one be sure on what is expected of them?
Do i simply study those key words- access, discuss, etc.

How could i be as consise and clear as possible- is there a way to practise?

Best would be to look at other peoples responses, especially in the standards package.

If the question says to assess, you need to make a judgement and give the advantages and disadvantages of it.

It would be great to first look at the board of studies verbs and their definitions for it.

Practice it by actually doing the question then getting your teacher to mark it. Ask what needs to be added or what isn't required from your answer (could be blabbering on stuff that the question doesn't ask for) and attempt another question.

if you were good enough to get 93%, then you must know your stuff very well.

the key to getting those extra marks for the extended response should be answering the question to the key verb(s) like Ragerunner said; but don't expect to get full marks even though you answered the question, markers are looking to see how much each student know so they can differentiate between the top students. therefore, it is a must that you try as hard as you can to demonstrate all your knowledge related to the question, especially those simple facts that you think is too obvious to mention. just remember that the markers cannot reward marks unless they see clear physical evidence of your knowledge, think of them as people who knows nothing and not teachers who knows everything.
