I heard there's an award for students who get 90+ for 10 units....If I do 12 units and I get 90+ for everything accept English...would I still get the award?

no, its your ten best units, and since english has to count then you have to get 90 in it as well.

Yes, you would. For the Premier's Award, you only need 10+ units at the top band. English doesn't have to be included.

Awards of $2,000 are made to (I think) the top 500 students in Australia, of which around 150 are from NSW. Can't quite remember the details, I'll have to find out.

OK, the prize with the money is the Australian Students Prize (ASP).

There were 146 winners from NSW in 2003... similar numbers in previous years.

In 2002, the criterion that you had to meet was marks of 93+ in 10 or more units.

(Thanks to timmii for the details.)
