Did you watch the Keira Knightley version or the Colin Firth version? IMO, the Firth version is so much better; Colin as Mr. Darcy almost had me licking my television screen.

Anyways, I also think you're an idiot if you don't read the book; it's one my favourite books ever. Movies are never the same even though the Firth version captured it really well.

yeah i love the firth version and the book is one of my all time favourites. except one criticism of the firth one is just how they are walking along the lane and next thing they are married, i like the knightly one how they had that big emotional scene and then it showed her with her father, that was so cute. And the alternate US ending is so gorgeous.
anything pride and prejudice related is excellent :)

I just saw the movie version a few nights ago, also saw the BBC (Colin Firth) version last year and totally fell in love with it. Haven't read the book yet, but hopefully will buy it soon! :)

I had some heartstrings tugged by the beautiful story, but I didn't find myself as "addicted" to it as I found myself to the BBC version. I'm aware it's much harder to cramp the story in a shorter amount of time (was anyone else as confused by sudden jumps in time/plot? Like when Elizabeth sleeps one night, then you see this orange light and think "what the hell?" then you see her on top of a cliff), but if I wasn't already aware of the storyline I think I would have been extremely confused.

One part of the film (as opposed to mini-series) was that it was clear that Jane was the eldest sister in terms of looks. Her character didn't emanate that sense of reserved sweetness that's in the BBC version though :( and what was with all that laughing when Bingley proposed?!?!

The 'realness' of the Mrs Bennett also felt a bit weird. It was more realistic, but I missed Alison Steadman's hysterics :( They're iconic!

Yeah I had to study P&P. I really liked both versions of the film. The BBC version is much better for study while the Knightley version is cute except the US really needs to be in the movie at the end, not cut. :)
