problems with DVD rom (1 Viewer)

my dvd rom used to work...

before i added another hard drive. it sense the cd in it (the title of the cd comes up in My Computer), but when i execute the folder, the hourglass comes up eventually My Computer no longer responding. i hear the drive reading the cd but nothing happens...

can anyone help me?

Does it work with the hard disk taken back out?

How have you set up your IDE channel master and slave devices?

Did you use those same settings in the drive jumpers if you are not using cable select?

umm no i havent taken the hard disk out

yes i think i have master/slave configured correctly

and i dont get the third point you mentioned

my case is such a mess...damn PSU have so many frieken wires everywhere

If the DVD ROM worked before you put the hard disk in, then the first thing you should try is to take the hard disk back out to see if it still works. If it does work, then you know its a problem with the hard disk or the installation of the hard disk that is causing the problem.
