I don't really know if this is the right place to post this thread but the problem is my friend has just got me a new samsung digital camera (if i was getting one for myself i wouldn't choose samsung!) and i've only used it once....and now i can't turn the stupid thing on... the battery is definitely charged, i even checked both and it is placed correctly in so i would really appreciate it if someone could help me out!
Thank you :D:D

I'd say ring a camera shop, or the support line for the manufacturer.

What type of batteries are you using? Some cameras NEED lithium batteries to turn on becuase they suck up too much power. If you have Energizers, or worse, Duracells, or a no-name brand battery, this could well be the problem. Rechargables generally shouldn't be a problem, but it could be. Talk to your camera shop. Buy the $15 batteries -- they should last you a month, give or take, with a bit of luck. Minimise how much you use the flash and the LCD (yes, you can turn it off) and you'll maximise your battery life (this goes for any type of battery).

AND/OR

If you've just bought it, it might be classed as DOA -- dead on arrival. Talk to your camera shop/manufacturer asap and explain the issues. Cameras, assuming you've got the right batteries, should work straight off. Don't doubt you might have the 1 dud out of 50,000 produced -- someone's gotta get it!

Either way, talk to your camera shop, and if they don't want to offer you after sales service, the manufacturer.

Thank you for your advice! I think i'll call the manufacturers coz the camera is new and i have followed all the stupid instructions from the manual
