just a couple of questions to people who have done this course already

1. are the lectures useful? I'm deciding whether or not is is worth going to QMB over another course.

2. is the textbook of any use, it is over $100!!

LOL I don't think i'll be going if the lecturer is anything like the one I had for QMA.

As for the textbook, I don't think I opened mine the entire semester.

Ironically, I QMA was my best mark for semester 1 (81), and I suck at maths. Figure that one out!

P.S: I know this doesn't help you with QMB in anyway, but oh well.

u have to do 1 approved stats course, eg actl2002, qmb, math2901, etc

QMB sucks
- Lectures suck
- Textbook sucks (however you do need it to do the tute problems etc)

However, it's very very easy compared to what I think ACTL2002 or MATH2901 etc would be.

math2901 is relatively easy but it has bugger all scaling. math2931 higher linear models (regression, etc) is said to be quite hard. actl2002 is harder by far (a compact course..but i would think one of the easier actuarial subjects) but scales like crazy.

u can still get ur exemption thru an external exam. i want my actuarial exemption!

They were still usin 6th ed in s1 2005..

I'm guessing the questions are the same.. just different pages.

Thought I was gettin a bargain at the beginning of s1. Took a risk and lost.. who da heck releases a book in the MIDDLE of the year????? Omg!

it was my brothers, who did qmb last year. and are you sure 7th wasn't published at the start of the year?

I just know that they were still selling 6th ed at the beginning of the yr and using 6th ed for s1.

it's new, but repetitive. it's easy once you've mastered key concepts (which apparently isn't hard to do).
