i dont do advanced but i used to and i always wrote at least 6 pages for an assessment. But i always got crap marks. So now i do standard and still write 6 pages and get top marks. So i dont suppose that really helped did it.

quality over quantity
if u can do 3 pages of quality it's better than 6-10 pages of bullshit

most people do around 1000-1200 words in the 40 minutes..depends if exam stress speeds you up or slows you down.
they recommend we write one of the booklets for each essay (if you havent seen them, they are so easy to fill, the lines are about a metre apart and they're smaller than a4)

no way! I go to a selective school and I write 4-5 A4 pages in 40 min (about 800 words at the most) and I'm in the top third of advanced English at my school. I thought I wrote fast! How are you guys doing this? I can't comprehend how it's physically possible!!

The maximum I've written in an exam was 6 a4 pages.. my hand was numb for the rest of the day >_>

I guess it all depends on your handwriting... I usually write around 5 pages per essay in 40 minutes.

You people are amazing, how do u write so much in 40 mins? I once tried writing 8 A4 pages as fast as i could and it took me around 80 mins. I do about 3 and a half to 4 a4 pages in 40 mins... I am not worried though becoz i am coming 2nd in advanced english at my school...
