i have read around and sort of understood the basics of ranking in school assesments
now i was just wondering in this scenario what happens..

internal assesment
first place 81
second place 78

now, first place slacks off due to ' oh im first' attitude. but second place works really hard
and their hsc mark are as follows
first place 81
second place 90

now..does first place still gets seconds places hsc mark as their internal assesment mark?
and looking at that, what would the outcome be?

The first place internal assessment will scale (through "moderation") to match that of the first place HSC exam mark (in pretty much all cases I do believe), but they will still receive their HSC exam mark (in this case 81). The person 1st in the internal assessment will thus get a HSC of the average of these two (86).

Edit: it is unknown how the second internal assessment mark will scale, because it depends on the others.
