it keeps stuffing up my music files...
Now half of my files have tuned into "when i grow up to be a man" by the beachboys and the other half are "people just aint no good" by nick cave and the bad seeds.
I dont understand it ... itll have the original songs name and play time but play a different song.
And i have to constantly re-download my CD's cuz after a while they just wont play.
I cant download anything off the net anymore, cuz it just stuffs up and will keep saying "sample play" and playing some random song instead.
And when i want to random play my songs the same 10 or so will keep playing over and over...
HELP ITS DRVING ME CRAZY!!!!

ok smart arse, about 90% are from CD's, its just easier to put them on the computer so i can listen to them while im on there... wooo genius.

The rest are stuff u cant buy on CD's , i.e. bootlegs, unreleased stuff, stuff from the radio, odd stuff from concerts etc etc.

Anyway the CD's just corrupt once downloaded onto the comp, and its annoying doing it over and over.

... so yeah, not helpfull... and not witty either...

So are they actually coming from your CDs, or are you downloading them?

I did not say there is anything wrong with putting CDs on your computer, it is a quite common thing to do and has become legal (as far as I know) since the introduction of the FTA. It is also quite common for anti-piracy groups and record labels to put dud copies of songs on P2P networks to stop illegal copies of songs being downloaded, in hope to force people to give up downloading and just buy the CDs instead.

I was serious about my suggestion in buying the CDs instead. If you want to know if it is RealPlayer playing foul with your downloaded files, then the obvious solution would be to get the CD and try play it with RealPlayer, or with some other media player software and see if the same problem occurs.

Since you say you have the CD, you can always do the conversion process with your CD, and see if the same thing happens. If the same thing happens, then it is RealPlayer causing the problem, if not, then you know you have been downloading dud copies of files online.

CDs do not magically become corrupt - only through physical damage can CDs be rendered unreadable.

Garbage in, garbage out. If you are downloading the files, you should not be expecting them to actually work.

UGH ... its times like this that my ignorance towards compute lingo comes back to bite me in the arse...

im obviously using all the wrong terminology even though it all means the same thing to me.

When i say "downloading" a CD onto the computer, what im trying to say is getting the actual CD, the material thing, putting it into the computer, and clicking "save CD to my library"

when i say the CD "corrupts" what i mean is the songs that i have TRANSFERED (is that more correct) from my CD onto the computer have stuffed up ... i.e. for the first few days I added them to my library from the CD they were fine... then after that they stop working so i have to add them again from the cd

um... what ther stupid stuff did i say??
oh who cares.... i dont want my terminoly corrected... just the problem. In a step by step simple solution. No judging... just answering im query.

And yes, i to am not a fan of downloading CD's off the net... i feel guilty, the artist should be payed for their work, people should show their appreciation, and that can only really be done through paying them. but some stuff u just cant buy. ANYWAY, thats enough of this.

It seems you have a problem with realplayer, try another program like itunes or windows media player which does the same job, and converts them to .aac or .mp3 or .wma when importing.

Its very simple, when you insert the CD, in iTunes it should ask you if you want to import the cd into your library, thats the one you want, alternatively you can have it scan your computer for music, like the cds you already put on the computer, although im not sure if it will recognise the realplayer format.

http://www.apple.com.au/support/itunes/windows/tutorial/segment102082b.html <-- itunes importing.

http://www.microsoft.com/windows/windowsmedia/9series/player/howto/copyingsongs.aspx <---- windows media player importing.
