(Sorry if I wasn't supposed to bring attention to it ><)
And erm. I haven't read the book so I actually can't answer the question >>.
BUT! Seeing as it's not one of your usual, run-of-the-mill texts that everybody does for belonging (at least I don't think it is), it'll probably go down well with markers, so long as you can bs the connection to belonging. And really, you can make practically any text about belonging if you're skillfull enough at manipulation. If you're stuck for techniques, look for imagery or dialogue. Books usually have one or the other; like the really descriptively written ones have lots of similes or metaphors, and the ones that aren't so descriptive usually have tone/sarcasm etc in them.

Unfortunately, I haven't read the text :(. However, try looking at some study guides from excel books, sparknotes or bookrags as they are quite helpful sites.

You may wish to take a look at Literary Devices as it has a list of commonly used language techniques and how they are employed within different textual forms.

Good luck! :D

*Also, I quite agree with nutcracker's words of wisdom. Certainly the case with the texts that I studied and used as related material.*
